For us, design is an exploration without end. The completion of a work does not mean that its meaning has been fixed.

The designer determines its contours, proportions, materials, and color; the work then carries those choices into the world’s gaze. It is seen, worn, and carried into different places, relationships, and memories. It changes the style and expression of those who wear it, even as it is redefined by them.

Meaning, then, belongs neither solely to the designer nor entirely to the work.

BROOKLYN HUNTINGTON can leave a work with a declaration, yet cannot write its one definitive answer. In the same declaration, one person may find restraint, another unruliness. For others, it may speak of distance, or of freedom. Each act of interpretation opens the work onto another meaning.

Form is shaped by design; singularity comes into being through wear.
